Introduction to Anti-Counterfeiting Ink Applied on Currency

The fluorescence on banknotes is induced fluorescence. From the perspective of the technology used in anti-counterfeiting fluorescent ink on banknotes, ink with anti-counterfeiting properties is commonly referred to as anti-counterfeiting ink.

It can be divided into several types:

1. Optical variable ink: Optical variable ink uses a special material that changes color with different viewing angles. After printing, the color of the pattern will change from one color to another. For example, the denomination numbers on the lower right corner of the front side of the 100 yuan and 50 yuan banknotes in the fifth series of RMB are printed with optical variable ink.
2. Magnetic ink: Magnetic ink has a long history of use and is mostly used as a qualitative indicator. Modern banknotes often use magnetic ink as a quantitative detection indicator for machine reading, while also increasing the difficulty of counterfeiting.
3. Colorless fluorescent ink: The printed pattern of this ink is invisible under normal light, but can be seen emitting bright fluorescence under ultraviolet light. This ink is used on all denominations of banknotes in the fifth series of RMB.
4. Colored fluorescent ink: The pattern printed with this ink appears as one color under normal light, but emits bright fluorescence under UV light, sometimes even showing another color. Colored fluorescent ink is generally used in a fixed position or a certain pattern on banknotes.
